Once your connection to the internet is checked, it is time to change the DCHP, or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, settings. They, unfortunately, can vary depending on the network, so we do not have precise steps for you, but you will make it work. Then, when it is done, test it on the other devices.
Your internet is on, the DCHP settings have been figured out, and you have run some tests on the other devices (or not); now its time to reset the TV settings, but we suggest checking out once again if the TV’s internet connection is on or not (spoiler alert, it should be on). Then, after the reset is completed, test the connection again.
This is the end of the process; your Smart TV should be connected and ready to work if everything is done right and well. However, if the instructions are confusing, or you do not feel like figuring it out on your own, you can always call Vizio support for warranty service, and they will help you out.
Getting internet on Vizio Smart TV through a wireless network
A wireless connection may be easier for a modern user to apply since it requires exclusively interaction with the user surface software and does not require you to know which cable goes where. Here is how it goes:
- find the Menu button on your Vizio Smart TV remote control and press it
- choose the section Network option and press OK button
- once in the section, select the Wireless option (press OK button to validate the selection)
- find and select WiFi Network and put in all the requested credentials that would give you access to the network of choice
Once the info is in, assuming it is correctly put, your Vizio TV should now be connected to the Internet.
Getting internet on Vizio Smart TV through a wired network
This part is a little more tricky but not too complicated nonetheless. Just follow the instructions, know your cables, and you will do just fine.
First, you will need your Ethernet cable to connect it to the Vizio TV’s LAN (Local Area Network) port. This cable may come in various sizes and colors, but what would help you distinguish it is the plastic cab on the cable head. Can you surf the Web on a Vizio Smart TV?
Surfing the Web in its common sense of “to access the internet to search for things” is not an option for Vizio Smart TV – it does not have the Web browser available (yet). However, there are web-based apps, both built-in and the ones you can install yourself, that would require connection to the Internet and that would, in a way, allow you to “surf the web.”
How do I get an Internet browser on my Vizio Smart TV?
As we saw in the previous question, there is no internet browser on Vizio TV accessible directly. Therefore, no direct way to install and use it, as it has not been developed (yet). However, you can use your PC to connect with the TV set and use it as the Internet browser to access the internet while having an image on the TV. You can connect it through the wire (the cat5 port or the PC cable input) or wirelessly (by share the screen function or one alike).
In this case, the Smart TV would be working as a screen instead of running the installed apps independently.
Why won’t my Vizio Smart TV connect to the Internet?
